CATIA V5 surface modelling with Generative Shape Design.

A proposed next step for learners who already understand basic CAD. Explore how curves and surfaces support engineering shape development, with guided practice and feedback.

Before you start

Find the right starting level.

Basic CATIA navigation, sketches and Part Design knowledge are recommended. Beginners can start with the foundations track.

Module 1

Curves and wireframe

Practise the curves and reference geometry used to construct and control surfaces.

Module 2

Generative Shape Design

Explore surface creation, trimming, joining and editing through focused exercises.

Module 3

Surface checks

Review joins, boundaries and continuity, and understand why a surface needs more than a good appearance.

Module 4

Engineering applications

Discuss how surface development connects to component packaging and practical automotive design tasks.

Learning goal

Build work you can explain.

Work towards a surface-modelling exercise with an organised feature structure and a clear explanation of your design decisions.

The pilot is being planned. Teaching format, duration, schedule, fees, software arrangements and any completion certificate will be confirmed before enrolment.

Your questions

Before you register interest.

Is this a Class-A surfacing qualification?

This proposed track focuses on CATIA surface-modelling practice. It is not advertised as an accredited Class-A surfacing qualification.

Can I move into lighting design afterwards?

Surface practice can support the automotive lighting track. We will discuss your CAD level and learning goal before recommending the next step.
